The street market in Glasgow.
Any of you who have read my book, Wired For Sound may have wondered when I spoke of Hamish and his mother living in horrid conditions in Glasgow. And I have firsthand knowledge of some of this. My father-in-law and mother-in-law emigrated to Canada from Glasgow because his business failed due to non-payment from a war torn, broke government. Before they left Scotland, they lived in Maryhill in not so nice living conditions
In the MacGrough Clan series, I mentioned that Hamish’s mother worked as hard as she could to keep from living in the worst of the slums and worked herself to death to keep her only child fed and clothed. The only thing I imagined was the characters themselves. Have a look at this and remember it’s from the 1960s.
